AOE/COE (Standard)

AOE/COE (Arising Out of Employment / Course Of Employment) is a workers' compensation based investigation centered around determining the facts or alleged injury by a worker on the job. The AOE/COE investigation is crucial in the early stages of a workers' compensation claim to determine injury related accident facts before evidence gets lost or memories deteriorate. The purpose of the AOE/COE investigation is to establish if the employee’s alleged injury was work related or whether the injury was non-industrial or affected by third parties. It is important to document the claimant’s story, along with any witnesses, prior to possible coaching by interested third parties such as legal counsel. The AOE/COE investigation will also help select candidates who may have intentions to defraud you and the workers' compensation system. Global Options' AOE/COE investigation is an effective tool to control workers' compensation costs and return the claimant to work as soon as possible. The initial AOE/COE investigation will usually be limited to the following:

• Obtaining a written or recorded statement from the claimant,
• Obtaining a signed medical and/or psyche release from the claimant,
• Obtaining a statement and /or medical records from treating physicians,
• Obtaining a signed release authorizing release of database records (workers' comp and / or driving histories in states where applicable),
• Obtaining a positive ID and photographs of the claimant,
• Obtaining written or recorded statements from witnesses,
• Obtaining a written or recorded statement from the supervisor of the claimant, and
• Obtaining personnel records on the claimant.
