Alive and Well Check
- Announced Alive and Well Check: The announced Alive and Well Check is an efficient way to determine a claimant’s current living, health, and activity status. The Alive and Well Check differs from the Activity Check in that our field investigator makes direct contact with the claimant per the client’s instructions and informs the claimant of exactly what is being done and who we are representing (usually the insurance company). The Alive and Well Check investigation involves a pre-scheduled in-person interview with the claimant to determine: general health, current medical treatment and medications, next scheduled doctor’s appointment, verification of employment and/or disability status, home environment, physical restrictions, hobbies and activities, description of their day-to-day life, social security number and date of birth verification, telephone number, spouse and children information, and photographs of the claimant and their residence.
- Unannounced Alive and Well Check: The Unannounced Alive and Well Check is the same as the standard Alive and Well Check except that no advance appointment is made with the claimant per the client’s instructions. Upon the investigator’s arrival, if the claimant is present at the residence, the Alive and Well check will be conducted. If the client requests an unannounced or unscheduled visit and the claimant is not present at the residence, the attempted visit will be invoiced at the normal SIU / Claims Investigation hourly rates plus expenses. The Unannounced Alive and Well Check will always be attempted in the early evening when there is a greater probability of the claimant being home. If the claimant is not present for the unannounced visit, we will ascertain from the client a course of future action or if they would like an Activity Check conducted.
